Battery:

Take your battery out from storage. (When you winterized your boat you should have stored it in a garage or a basement) Fill the battery up with water, if needed and charge it. If your battery is charged, you have checked it with a battery tester, filled it with water, and it still doesn't hold a charge, you should buy a new battery.

Oil:

You should have changed the oil, changed the oil filter, and adjusted the oil in the out drive before you stored your boat away for the season. If you haven't done this yet, now is the time to do it.

Fuel System:

When you winterized your boat, you should have filled up the fuel tank to prevent condensation, which can dilute gas and cause corrosion of the tank. Change your fuel filter and replace the fuel line if it is cracked.

Coolant:

You should have drained your coolant during the winter, you now need to fill it back up and check the hoses for cracks.

Belts:

Belts are very important to check. After a long, cold winter they seem to be brittle and often crack. Belts should fit tightly around the pulleys to prevent slipping. A worn belt will have a black substance near the pulley and will fit loosely.

Safety items:

Examine all of these items and replace if outdated, worn, or if they don’t operate smoothly:
